This has us saying, “Can we pre-subscribe to Disney’s streaming service?”
Disney has closed a deal with director Rian Johnson to develop a new “Star Wars” trilogy, and it is planning a live-action “Star Wars” TV series to air on its entertainment streaming service that is expected to launch by the end of 2019. — Variety
In more Disney news…
After purchasing streaming company BamTech for $1.58 billion, Disney said it would offer content via its own on-demand service, rather than going through Netflix. That’s not just going to be Star Wars, Marvel and other movie content, but sports from ESPN, too. During its earnings call yesterday, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that ESPN’s streaming service would be called ESPN Plus (ESPN+) and launch in the spring of 2018. — ESPN
And for all you Harry Potter fans…
All eight films in the Harry Potter series will be available to stream on HBO starting January 1, 2018. — POLYGON
