The Los Angeles company leading the race to fulfill Elon Musk’s dream of tubular transit tested its pod for the first time last weekend. That pod is 28 feet long and made of aluminum and carbon fiber. It looks a bit like a bus with a beak. — WIRED

An international team of scientists reports they have, for the first time, figured out a way to successfully edit the DNA in human embryos — without introducing the harmful mutations that were a problem in previous attempts elsewhere. Lionsgate, and comedian Kevin Hart, have launched a new mobile streaming platform called Laugh Out Loud. It’s featuring stand-up specials and licensed programs alongside original scripted and unscripted comedy series. – Variety

Product placement is alive and thriving in the shows you’re streaming

Though Amazon and Netflix shows don’t pause for commercial breaks, they make up some of the difference with a significant amount of product placement. A company owned by Bill Gates, Branded Entertainment Network (BEN), is one of several dedicated to placing products within streaming content, including scripted shows and videos from digital influencers. – CNBC
